Position Title: Recycling Specialist

Reports to: Office Manager
Salary Range: $28.00 per hour
Valley Vista Services is a family-owned & operated waste disposal company that has been serving the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding Los Angeles areas since 1957. We are seeking a positive and motivated individual to join our Sustainability team. Qualified individuals will apply their skills and experience to ensure the team delivers excellent service to our clients in a safe, timely and efficient manner. This is a full-time position.- Complete waste and diversion assessments for customers. Develop diversion strategies, outline areas for opportunity and assist in identifying employee, training needs
- Implement commercial waste diversion practices through reduce, reuse, recycling, and composting programs
- Effectively maintain working relationships with business owners, management companies, maintenance companies and staff, customers, residents, community groups, and the public
- Responsible for all customer communication, conflict resolution, and compliance via phone, email, and in-person visits
- Educate customers on recycling regulations (i.e. AB 1826, AB 341, SB 1383, etc.)
- Participate in public outreach/education opportunities including presentations, workshops and trainings
- Ability to promote and sell recycling programs and maintain the participation of programs
- Conducts business site visits for analysis, waste assessments, and surveys
- Maintain and update records of all customer outreach and site visits
- Provide administrative and analytical support (services changes, invoices, payments and customers follow-ups)
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in waste & recycling programs
- Minimum of one (1) year of sales experience
- Possess strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to listen effectively and communicate in a friendly and informative manner to customers over the phone, in writing, and in person
- Strong time management and decision making skills
- Adaptability and accountability
- Ability to deal tactfully, patiently and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel often to surrounding Los Angeles and Orange County areas
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Bilingual: Spanish
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 25 pounds rarely
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements rarely
- Normal setting for this job: office setting and fieldwork (i.e. various customer locations)
