Valley Vista Services is a family-owned & operated waste disposal company that has been serving the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding Los Angeles areas since 1957. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Welder to join our Maintenance team and help keep our containers, roll-offs, and equipment in top shape. This is a full-time position. Monday to Friday, alternating/ rotating Saturday.POSITION OVERVIEW
Maintenance Technician (mechanic) who performs tractor and trailer repair diagnosis and correction following standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Completes routine repairs and replacements, makes best value and safety decisions to continue to operate, repair or replace, and performs technical repairs and/or replacement.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform welding and fabrication on metal containers, hoppers, and roll-off boxes
- Weld steel and aluminum parts using MIG and ARC (stick) welding techniques
- Use brake, shear, and other fabrication equipment to form steel components
- Operate plasma cutters and torches to cut metal accurately and safely
- Install lids, wheels, safety decals, and other components per company standards
- Sand, prime, and paint containers using airless spray equipment
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meet safety and quality standards
- Complete documentation for each completed repair
- Report major repairs or structural issues to Maintenance Supervisor
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all company safety policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of welding experience or successful completion of a certified welding program
- Proficiency in MIG and stick welding
- Familiarity with plasma cutters, torches, airless paint sprayers, and standard hand tools
- Ability to read and follow diagrams, safety procedures, and instructions
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Requires standing, bending, lifting (up to 75 lbs), and working with tools and heavy equipment
- Exposure to welding fumes, dust, noise, paint, grease, and outdoor elements
- Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all company safety protocols
- Ability to work in hot or cold environments for extended periods
